After a decade with a well-loved second-hand rug, one homeowner decided it was finally time for an upgrade and discovered how profoundly the right rug can reshape a space.

With young children and years spent in rental homes, investing in a custom rug had always felt impractical. But stepping into Living DNA changed that perspective entirely. Rather than choosing online, the client wanted a tactile, unhurried experience to see, touch and carefully match colours to treasured furniture pieces, including a reupholstered slipper chair and a statement ottoman.

Over several relaxed hours in the showroom, Shernan and the Living DNA team guided the process with patience and expertise, helping refine colour choices and design details without pressure. A custom sample was produced before final weaving, offering reassurance and confidence before full production began.

The result: a 4 × 4 metre Oakridge rug, handmade in India from premium New Zealand wool, layered with foam underlay and composed of three carefully selected tones. Six months on, the rug remains a daily pleasure: springy underfoot, beautifully stable in colour and form, and a quiet source of joy each time it’s walked on.

A reminder that the right rug doesn’t just complete a room, it transforms the way a home is lived in.

Worth buying

I bought two carpets, one for the dining area and one for the living room. Both carpets match my furniture perfectly and blend well with the overall home theme. They look very aesthetic and instantly elevate the space. The design is elegant and adds a cosy yet classy vibe to both areas. The colours complement my furniture nicely without overpowering the room. After some time, everything has settled well and they look even better now. They feel comfortable underfoot and are suitable for daily use. Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase.
