This project was a true collaboration with homeowners who have a distinct appreciation for modern, colourful art. Clients who love patterns, prints and are unafraid of mixing colours made us excited to be given such a task. Their island bungalow, surrounded by lush greenery and a pool that stretches across most of the living areas, offers a resort-style luxury that feels elevated.

When they first visited our Keong Saik showroom, their brief was simple but specific: create a rug for the main living room that would complement their designer sofa upholstered in iconic Missoni patterns. While their initial idea was to replicate the print, our style team suggested taking it further, to design something completely original. As we always say, when someone walks into your living room, they should feel a cohesive, intentional space, and your rug should look unmistakably custom-made.

During the Home Consult, what started as a single rug project expanded into a full custom project across four rooms. Together, we selected colours to perfectly match the modular sofa, then designed unique rugs for the pool room, breakfast room, and main dining hall. The result: a home where every space feels considered, connected, and completely one-of-a-kind.

MAIN LIVING ROOM

When a room begins with a statement sofa, the rug needs to rise to the occasion. We designed a completely original piece to match the palette, honour the art on the wall, and make the space feel intentional and unmistakably custom. The placement of the colours was done intentionally to make it look as if the tones from the upholstery spill over into the rug. The watercolour look of this rug required close to 30 pom tones, resulting in a smooth blend of colours.  A true work of art underfoot.

POOL ROOM

The brief called for something water-themed that would feel like an extension of the pool itself. Our signature Flux became the starting point, inspiring the idea of an “island” in the center, surrounded by a ripple of colour. The tones mirror the turquoise of the pool, grounded by deeper blues for balance. High-low carving adds depth and texture, making the rug as engaging underfoot as it is visually.

BREAKFAST ROOM & MAIN DINING ROOM

Both rooms needed rugs that were durable and unfussy, while still feeling elevated. Our Lithe, made of recycled PET, was the perfect choice. We customised it in both round and rectangular formats to suit each space and made sure the dimensions allowed chairs to stay comfortably on the rug, even when pulled out.

Every decision in this project, from the statement living room rug to the quiet durability of the dining spaces, was guided by our goal to make the home feel cohesive, intentional, and unmistakably theirs. The result is a Sentosa bungalow that reflects its owners’ love for art, colour, and good design, while still being warm and liveable.
