Residential Project: A Custom Rug Collection Inspired by Nature and Design

The brief was clear: create three rugs that would anchor the home’s most important spaces. What made this project special was being invited into the process early, during construction, material selection, and the shaping of the interior story. Rugs are often an afterthought, but here, they became part of the interior language from the beginning.

The homeowner had a distinct vision for her space: bold, expressive, and rooted in nature. We worked closely with her and the interior designer to filter, refine, and translate that vision into pieces that felt intentional and deeply personal.

From the private lift, the main living and dining area unfolds as one continuous, open space. With both areas fully visible to each other, it was crucial to create cohesion without resorting to obvious “matching” sets. Our philosophy in custom work is simple: a rug should feel integral to its environment, as though it was conceived alongside the architecture, the furniture, and the palette of the home. 

The homeowner was drawn to our signature Flux collection for its sense of flow and movement. We developed earth-inspired colour stories to complement her aesthetic. The flow and pattern of the living rug were positioned to anchor the sofa and create balance across the open space. The palette was derived from the artwork and objects already in the home, layered with deeper tones pulled from upholstery and furniture details.

For the dining area, we echoed the raw, sculptural quality of the wooden table with an organic, irregular border, creating a piece that balances formality with playfulness. The result is a pair of rugs that feel entirely unique to this home. They are floor-bound artworks that extend the client’s growing art collection.

In the bedroom, the brief shifted toward softness and restraint. We reinterpreted the Flux “Ripple” motif in a muted, two-tone scheme, creating a calm, hotel-suite serenity. The pattern remains, expressed with a quiet luxury that completes the room without overwhelming it.

Each rug stands as a chapter in the home’s story: bold yet considered, rooted in nature, and entirely bespoke to the way this family lives.
